New 20-Baht Songthaew Makes Travel from the Lao–Thai Border Easier
Good news for travelers crossing from Laos into Thailand through Nong Khai!
A local songthaew service is now available from the Thai–Lao border checkpoint in Nong Khai for just 20 baht per person for the full route.
The service offers an affordable and convenient way to travel from the border into central Nong Khai, passing several useful and popular locations including Tha Sadet Market, Nong Khai Hospital and other areas in the city, before continuing toward the Wat That and Phra That La Nong area.
For Lao visitors entering Thailand through the First Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge, this provides a much cheaper option for reaching Nong Khai city without having to arrange a private taxi or tuk-tuk.
Fare: 20 baht per person, throughout the route
📍 Board the songthaew on the Thai side at the Nong Khai border checkpoint.
So next time you cross from Vientiane into Nong Khai, look out for the local songthaew — getting into town may cost you only 20 baht!
